Earthquake Experience and Post-traumatic Growth Facilitationin Nepal: A Qualitative Study

Abstract
The purpose of this present study was to explore the earthquake experience of Nepalese citizens and to identify factors that successfully facilitate overcoming earthquake trauma resulting in post-traumatic growth. For this aim, participants included 15 Nepalese earthquake survivors were interviewed; data was analyzed via Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) Method. Positive changes included both internal and social factors, while negative changes included emotional, physical, social, and behavioral factors. Factors that facilitated post-trauma growth included flow, religious beliefs, and environmental factors such as empathy and social support. Based on these findings, suggestions for professional rehabilitation educators and counselors working with clients who have experienced similar trauma are discussed.
